Just like Picasso's "blue period" I had my...errm...black sharpie period? I had no idea tenth grade was such an angst ridden year. I attempted to draw two "graphic novels"...both failed. And I I liked drawing angry teenage girls in nothing but black sharpie with a little red for effect.

More pictures from my beat up green folder. This is also 11th grade I believe...mostly because of the use of my markers, 10th grade was darker (in terms of shades) I liked stark black and white and maybe some red...you'll see.

I have been cleaning out my closet and in the process I found this really old (the cover almost falling off) green folder with band names scribbled all over it. I had no idea I drew so much between the ages of 15-17! And i had no idea I was so angsty...geez. The pictures oscillate between fashion spreads and gothic/ punk people. And no I was never associated with that scene I had pigtails and glasses in the 10th grade...and I was like 4'2...well not really more like 5'0. This will be the first installment of images because honestly there are WAY too many to add to incorporate into one post. These picture are from 11th grade. In 11th grade, I reallly liked color apparently...even more so than I do now. I loved Crayola markers and sharpies...and you could say I'd over do it.



I did love how bright I made the hair...














I must say...I would soooo wear that pink dress.

Number 29

Another attempt at the rapper M.I.A. but I can't seem to capture her. I just really find her interesting as an artist and a person and really really dig her fashion sense (not that I would wear any of her outfits...although they sure are bright and fun to draw).

Number 28

This dragon fly (believe it or not) was done at 1 am in the morning and took me less than an hour to do (coloring and all). The wings were the most work, because of how delicate and transparent they are. I was basically going through this "Encyclopedia of Animals" book I own and was really struck by how beautiful and delicate these creatures are.

Number 27

Owl number 3...they are just really fun to draw, the feathers are really detailed and colorful and you can draw them so many ways. This one (again) was initially sketched out (free hand of course) in pencil and then inked in. I colored it in layering on Faber Castell pencils.
